A private tertiary training college is expanding into South Australia despite a recent funding cut to private providers.
Evocca College which offers courses in beauty, business, community services, counselling, IT and tourism will open a centre in Elizabeth, in Adelaide’s north, next month and plans to launch four more over the next year.
State manager Jason Rogers says the company is targeting Adelaide’s northern suburbs, where unemployment is particularly high.
The state government recently ended funding to some private training groups, with TAFE to provide the majority of subsidised training places in the next financial year.
