Midnight Oil announce extra shows to tour

Midnight Oil have sold over 200,000 tickets for their international dates on their world tour and have announced extra shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The band revealed the second dates just days after tickets to 11 of their Australian shows sold out.

The new concerts will take place in Melbourne on November 8 at Sidney Myer Music Bowl and in Sydney on November 17 at The Domain.

Adding the extra date in Melbourne has pushed the band’s November 8 show in Wollongong to November 13.

The Oils have also released extra tickets for the Sunshine Coast show.

Outside of Australia, the band are also embarking on their first world tour in over 20 years and all 14 North American shows have sold out, along with their shows in London and Paris.

In Australia, shows at Kuranda, Brisbane, Hunter Valley, Sydney, Melbourne, Macedon Ranges, Canberra and Wollongong have all sold out.The last time the band toured Australia was in 2002.

Midnight Oil will kick off the world tour with an intimate gig in a Sydney pub in April and will return in October to play 18 dates nationally.

Pre-sale for tickets to the extra Sydney and Melbourne shows go on sale on March 6 and general sales start on March 8.
