Ed Sheeran will bring his stadium tour to Australia and New Zealand next year.
The announcement, which came early on Wednesday, had been hinted at on social media by Frontier Touring, who are bringing the British singer-songwriter Down Under.
The tour will start in Australia exactly one year after the release of his third album, Divide, which went to number one in charts around the world.
The British singer-songwriter was in Australia in February on a short promotional tour before the release of his album, during which he performed a one-off gig in the Sydney Opera House.
Since then, Sheeran has been touring stadiums in Europe, and will perform across North America and Latin America before he hits Australia.
On his tour next year Sheeran will return to stadiums, just like his last Australian tour in 2015.
He admitted in a recent interview on BBC radio show Desert Island Discs that he spent part of his year away from the music business in 2016 backpacking around Australia and New Zealand.
Sheeran is the first act announced to play at Perth’s new stadium, where he will kick-off his tour and, with seven dates announced, there are plenty of extra days in between for Sheeran to add more shows.
Ed Sheeran tour dates:
March 3 – Perth Stadium, Perth
March 7 – Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
March 10 – Etihad Stadium, Melbourne
March 16 – ANZ Stadium, Sydney
March 20 – Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
March 24 – Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland
March 29 – Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin
